Please note that the chapter board of directors voted recently to dissolve the Rockford chapter effective with the end of this chapter year. The decision to do so was based on the following factors:
- We did not have the required number of board members going into next chapter year. The core of our board has been in place for quite some time, but competing priorities resulted in attrition going into next year. We sought out interest in board participation, but were unable to garner enough support to maintain the required critical board structure.
- Our primary function as a board was to plan and execute monthly chapter meetings. Unfortunately, attendance at the monthly meetings has steadily declined over the last several years. This made it difficult to schedule speakers, and it resulted in our chapter losing money with each chapter meeting.
With the dissolution of our chapter, you have the option to move your membership to another chapter. I would encourage you to consider doing so, particularly if you wish to continue receiving notifications of Mid-America Council functions. Geographically, I believe the closest chapters to the Rockford area are the Madison, WI, Fox River Valley, IL and Chicago, IL chapters. If you wish to move your membership to another chapter, please do so within the next 30 days. If you do not, then your membership will simply revert to “unaffiliated”. To change your chapter affiliation, please logon to the IMA website at https://www.imanet.org, click on “myMembership” and then click on the “Request Chapter Transfer” quick link. You will then have the option to select a chapter to which your membership will be transferred.
We will be wrapping up chapter operations by the end of June, the end of the IMA chapter year, and we will be working with IMA Global to complete the required administrative tasks. Our remaining fund balance will be transferred to the Mid-America Council at that time.
In closing, it has been a pleasure serving you for the last seven years and I hope to continue the many wonderful relationships that I have built through involvement in IMA. I would also like to thank my fellow board members for their support and dedication to the chapter. I have enjoyed serving with you through the years, and very much appreciate your vital flow of efforts, ideas and creativity.
